Music Groupings and Schedule

Our most collected musical style, this genre includes mainly instrumental and light vocals. Beautiful Music was the predecessor of Easy Listening.

Includes Ray Conniff, Percy Faith, Burt Bacharach, Bert Kaempfert, Roger Williams, Henry Mancini, Norman Lubboff, and Ferrante & Teicher.

Ladies & Gents

All the best from the Legendary Ladies and the Crooners of the day. Big voices and big orchestration turned these artists into huge radio and television stars.

Doris Day, Andy Williams, Dinah Shore, Nat "King" Cole, Peggy Lee, Johnny Mathis, Nancy Wilson, Tom Jones, Dean Martin, Judy Garland, and many more.

Jazz 'n Blues

Offering a large variety of jazz sub-genres, including American and Latin Jazz, instrumentals and vocals. This is one of the most expansive categories.

Al Hibbler, Herb Alpert, Sergio Mendes, Earl Grant, Aker Bilk, Si Zentner, The Brass Ring, Charlie Byrd, and Baja Marimba Band lead the cast here.

Night Dancing

For a few hours, late each evening, we showcase some of the best of the orchestra leaders and dance favorites. These were the bands and the tunes heard in the dinner clubs of the day.

Jackie Gleason, Hal Kemp, Lester Lanin, Billy Vaughn, Griff Williams, Guy Lombardo, Sammy Kaye, and Steve Allen are among the headliners in the group.

Big Band

No classic 30s and 40s station would be complete without the inclusion of some Big Band music. This musical style is often equated with the World War II Era, although it was popular long after.

Glenn Miller, Tommy & Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Les Brown and Enoch Light are just some of the bands featured.

MPR Variety

The MPR Variety mix encompasses all of the music that we have uploaded to the platform. It includes music from all four of the specified musical groupings, along with a few other goodies.

Along with Beautiful Music, Dance, Jazz, Ladies/Gents, and Big Band, we throw in the occasional classic commercial, and a cooking or decorating tidbit from time to time.
